The Anime cartoon, Bakugan Battle Brawlers, originally came out in 2007. It's all bog standard plot, cliched characters and predictable endings. But who cares :-).
In a nutshell... special cards rain randomly from the sky, some friends invent a game called Bakugan. But there's analternate universe called 'Vestroia' where these Bakugan are actually real. Theuniverse falls out of balance, then merges with ours. DanKuso (main dude) and friends battle the evil BakuganNaga to save both universes.
The real life game is played just like the cartoon. You have magnetictransforming Bakugan monsters that start out as balls, but which open out when theyencounter magnetic Gate cards, revealing the creatureinside. There are all kinds of tricks, tactics and complicated strategies to this game. And the game continues to evolve all the time with new updates and ideas coming from the players themselves too.
